Through comedy skits, fashion and lifestyle vlogs, and reality television content on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube, a growing cohort of digital creators is parlaying massive online followings into substantial acting roles. With audiences already emotionally invested in their personalities, these influencers are proving that authentic fan connection now holds significant currency alongside and sometimes ahead of conventional acting credentials. Here are the social media influencers who have successfully crossed over into leading roles in Nollywood productions: 1. Kiekie – Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori The influencer and content creator broke into Nollywood with Simple Lie (2023). She has since co-produced and starred in Gingerrr, and appeared in Ile Owo and Flatmates. She also played Asake in season 2 of Kunle Afolayan’s Netflix series Anikulapo: Rise of the Sceptre. 2. Vee Iye – Victoria Adeleye The BBNaija: Lockdown (2020) fourth runner-up made her acting debut in She Must Be Obeyed (2023) and also featured in Behind the Scenes (2025). She works as a brand influencer. 9. Neo Akpofure The BBNaija: Lockdown finalist switched to acting after 2020. The fashion enthusiast has appeared in Palava! (2022), A Weekend to Forget (2023), and My Mother is a Witch (2025). 10. Papaya Ex – Abike Halima Raheem The social media influencer made her acting and producing debut with The Night Market (2025). 11. Mr Macaroni – Debo Adedayo The activist and satirist moved from skits to the big screen with Ponzi (2021). He was the second-highest-grossing Nollywood actor in 2025, with roles in Ayinla, Aníkúlápó, Freedom Way, and Lisabi: The Uprising. 12. Broda Shaggi – Samuel Perry One of Nigeria’s biggest skit makers, the two-time AMVCA Best Actor in a Comedy winner starred in Inside Life and Namaste Wahala. Other credits include Ghetto Bred (2018), The Bling Lagosians (2019), and Fate of Alakada: The Party Planner (2020). He also released the hit song Oya Hit Me. 13. Kamo State The skit maker and content creator rose to prominence for his viral comedy videos and street-style skits. He has since transitioned to Nollywood, featuring in titles including A Tribe Called Judah (2023) and Everybody Loves Jenifa (2024).
