Tiruvallur district authorities have successfully evacuated 60% of ammonia gas from a seafood processing unit following a fatal leak. Officials are now implementing safety protocols and auditing other local industries that utilize ammonia.
In an operation that began at 9 a.m. on Saturday the Tiruvallur District administration along with a 15-member team of experts evacuated around 60% of ammonia from three storage tanks of St. Paul and Peter, the seafood processing unit where a gas leak on June 21 had led to the death of several workers.
