Aamir Khan's friend reveals why ex Kiran and Reena skipped his wedding with Gauri

Actor Aamir Khan's friend Amin Hajee clarified that the absence of Khan's ex-wives, Kiran Rao and Reena Dutta, from his recent wedding to Gauri Spratt was due to personal scheduling and not family conflict. The wedding was described as a simple, private affair held at Khan's home without traditional rituals.
Actor Aamir Khan's close friend and Lagaan co-star Amin Hajee has explained why Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao were not present at the actor's wedding to Gauri Spratt on July 5. In a recent interview, Amin said Kiran was in the UK at the time and said Reena's absence should not be seen as a sign of any strain with Aamir.Aamir and Gauri married in a registered ceremony at his Mumbai home, with close family and friends in attendance. Several of Aamir's longtime collaborators, including Rajkumar Hirani and Ashutosh Gowariker, were present. Amin said the two-day celebration was kept simple, private and free of traditional wedding rituals.Speaking to Rediff, Amin said, "Kiran was in the UK at the time; Azad flew back for the wedding."On Reena's absence, Amin said not attending the ceremony did not mean there was any problem in their relationship. He said, "I think some absences are natural. Sometimes giving people their space is also a gesture of love and respect. You don't want to make someone uncomfortable on such an important occasion."He added that Aamir continues to share a cordial relationship with both Reena and Kiran. He said, "But they continue to share a healthy relationship. Through the Paani Foundation, Aamir, Satya (Satyajeet Bhatkal), Kiran and Reena still work together professionally."Amin also recalled an instance of Aamir supporting Reena during a difficult time. He said, "When Reena's father passed away, Aamir asked Kareem and me if we could help. Reena was travelling at the time, and Aamir stayed until the final rites."How the wedding was heldAmin shared that Aamir and Gauri chose not to follow traditional ceremonies. He said, "The wedding was held at Aamir's home. We didn't follow any traditional wedding rituals. Many people have asked if there was a sangeet or other ceremonies, but there weren't. We simply spent time together, chatted, laughed, and enjoyed each other's company."He said the celebrations were spread over two days, with the first evening centred on bringing both families together. "I think the best part was that we all met a day before the wedding, like how friends get together for lunch. It was a casual evening where Aamir had invited his closest friends. Gauri's family was there too; they are such warm and wonderful people," the actor said."The first evening was about getting to know one another. Although we were meeting Gauri's family for the first time, it did not feel that way. It felt like we had known each other for years. They are such a loving family," he continued. The actor also said Gauri's father, Robert 'Bob' Spratt, attended the ceremony along with his brother, sister, daughter Shauna and other family members. "Their father loves riding bikes, and we spent a lot of time chatting with him. They are an accomplished family, yet have absolutely no airs. They love Aamir and are very proud of him," he shared. How Aamir is as a personIn the same interview, Amin described Aamir as a deeply emotional person who had gone through heartbreak. He said people may joke about Aamir finding love again after many years, but his personal life had involved pain, tears and difficult phases. He said, 'Relationships are never as simple as outsiders imagine, and it's unfair to assume only one person is responsible when a marriage ends.'Amin also said Aamir's devotion to work had often come at a personal cost. He said, 'Anyone living with a person so deeply immersed in their work can sometimes feel neglected.' He added that Aamir had always treated marriage with dignity, remained honest and fair in his relationships, and ensured that his former family and children were looked after when he moved on in life.More about the actor's personal lifeAamir married longtime partner Gauri in a registered ceremony at his Mumbai home on July 5.
