After Valparai tragedy, Pang schoolchildren turn to art for healing

Students at a government school in Pang are using arts and music workshops to recover from the trauma of a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of most of their teachers. Organized by SPIC MACAY, the program helped children express themselves through Carnatic music, dance, and traditional crafts.
On Tuesday afternoon (July 21), the stage at Government UP School, Pang, was filled with music, dance, and applause. For many in the audience, the performances were more than a cultural programme. They were a sign that children scarred by one of the worst tragedies to hit a school community were slowly beginning to smile again.
