'Been in Russia for 4 months': Bihar man questions being named in NEET protest FIR

KISHANGANJ: A Bihar resident has claimed he was wrongly named in an FIR related to last week's protests over the NEET paper leak, alleging that he has been living in Russia for the past four months and was not even in the country when the demonstrations took place.Mohammad Sadaqat, a resident of Bihar's Kishanganj district, made the claim in a video purportedly recorded in Russia, where he said he has been staying for the last four months.The video has gone viral on social media.In the purported video, Sadaqat questioned why an FIR had been registered against him, saying he was not present at the July 25 protest in Bahadurganj because he had been living in Russia for the past four months.He demanded a fair investigation into the case and urged authorities to remove his name from the FIR.When contacted by PTI, Kishanganj superintendent of police Hari Mohan Shukla neither confirmed nor denied Sadaqat's claim but said anyone with grievances could approach the police for redressal."All those who have any grievances related to the protests could approach the police for redressal," the SP said when specifically asked about Sadaqat's purported video.The development comes after the Bihar government announced on Monday that it would withdraw all cases registered in connection with the protests over the NEET paper leak and release those arrested in the incidents.According to a notification issued by the state home department, the government will withdraw all FIRs, complaints and show-cause notices related to incidents that occurred before 6 am on July 26.The department also said that all those arrested in connection with the protests would be released.A total of 694 persons, nearly half of them minors, were detained for allegedly attempting to enforce the state-wide bandh called last week to protest against the paper leak.(With PTI inputs)You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Patna | Silver Rate in Patna | Bank Holidays in Patna | Public Holidays in Patna | Patna AQI | Weather in Patna | Petrol Price in Patna | Diesel Price in Patna | CNG Price in Patna | LPG Price in PatnaStay updated with the latest Patna news.
