Bidadi township: Chief Minister signals compensation beyond ₹3 crore an acre

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has indicated that compensation for land losers in the Bidadi township project could exceed ₹3 crore per acre, a figure higher than the previously understood cap of ₹2.55 crore. While a committee initially set a maximum compensation, a clause allows for higher payouts based on guidance value, particularly when applying the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act, 2013. This move comes after a joint padayatra by opposition parties.
