BJP MPs seek higher rabi rice procurement target from Centre

BJP MPs in Telangana are pressuring the central government to increase the rice procurement target for the rabi season to prevent farmer hardship. The delegation alleges that the state government has mismanaged the procurement process, leading to significant delays in delivering rice to the Food Corporation of India.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, along with BJP MPs from Telangana, on Wednesday urged Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi to enhance the State’s rabi 2025-26 rice procurement target beyond the approved 35 lakh metric tonnes.
