Brigade moves Madras High Court against revocation of environmental clearance for Pallikaranai project
The Madras High Court has ordered the Tamil Nadu State Environment Impact Assessment Authority to justify its unilateral revocation of an environmental clearance for a Brigade Enterprises residential project. The developer argues the project is outside prohibited zones and that the revocation violated due process.
The Madras High Court on Friday (July 24, 2026) directed the Tamil Nadu State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) to explain, by July 28, 2026, how could it unilaterally revoke the environmental clearance (EC) issued to Brigade Enterprises Limited for constructing high-rise residential towers near the Pallikaranai marshland, a designated Ramsar wetland site.
