Burst main shuts off water to hundreds of homes in Blarney area as tankers go in

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a burst water main in the Blarney area this lunchtime and restore water supply to hundreds of customers affected by the outage. Irish Water/UE issued the notice today - but residents who contacted CorkBeo said there had been major problems with pressure and supply since last Tuesday, when they say the company was notified of the issues. Customers in Cluain Ard, Blarney and surrounding areas may experience supply disruptions, low pressure, or intermittent outages while repairs are carried out. In the meantime, water tankers are in place at Cluain Ard, Blarney. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure. James Goulding, Uisce Éireann, said:"We understand the inconvenience that unplanned outages can cause for customers, homes and businesses. Our crews are working to repair the burst as quickly and safely as possible and restore normal water supply to all affected customers." Typically, it takes two to three hours after repairs are completed for normal supply to return to all customers. However, it may take longer for supplies to return to customers at the ends of the network or in higher-lying areas as the network recharges. Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
