Carmakers force govt to scrap EV policy

The Pakistani government has scrapped a newly proposed auto policy following pressure from conventional car manufacturers who viewed the shift toward electric vehicles as a threat. Consequently, the expiration of the previous policy has led to an automatic increase in GST on hybrid vehicles from 8.5% to 25%.
