CBI clears two MCD officials in coaching centre deaths case

The CBI has cleared two senior Municipal Corporation of Delhi officials of criminal negligence regarding the deaths of three students at a coaching center in 2024. While the agency found operational lapses by junior staff, it concluded there was no evidence that senior officials were aware of the building's unauthorized use.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on July 8 filed a supplementary final report before a Delhi court concluding that there was no evidence to prosecute two senior Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials for criminal negligence in connection with the deaths of three civil services aspirants in July 2024 at Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar.
