India's Chanambam Rishikanta Singh clinched the silver medal in the men's 60kg weightlifting event at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Saturday, handing the country its first silver medal and second overall podium finish of the Games. The 28-year-old from Manipur delivered a memorable performance by rewriting the Commonwealth Games record books in the snatch before finishing second in a fiercely contested final.Rishikanta sets new CWG snatch recordRishikanta made a stunning start by successfully lifting 121kg on his third and final snatch attempt, setting a new Commonwealth Games record in the discipline. The effort briefly put him at the top of the standings alongside Malaysia's Mohamad Aniq Bin Kasdan, setting up an intense battle in the clean and jerk.
