'Close to 100 BJP MPs have criminal cases': CJP defends woman who 'abused' PM Modi
AI Summary

A spokesperson for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has defended a woman arrested for making abusive remarks against Prime Minister Modi. The party argues that the legal action is a misuse of the criminal justice system and highlights the prevalence of criminal cases among sitting MPs.

NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das on Friday defended Ruchika Singh, the Noida woman booked for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the recent CJP protests, and accused the authorities of misusing the criminal justice system. In a post on X, Das wrote, “The misuse of criminal machinery against Ruchika Singh is unacceptable. Profanity does not attract a criminal case.” He also questioned the police’s priorities, saying, “50% of Lok Sabha MPs have criminal cases against them, close to 100 MPs in the BJP. The Police can focus their energy towards them, not a 25-year-old! Harassment of the young must STOP immediately!”His remarks came days after the Noida Police registered an FIR against Singh over allegedly objectionable comments directed at the Prime Minister during the CJP’s ‘Sanasd Chalo’ march over the alleged NEET paper leak.According to police, the case was registered following a complaint alleging that Singh used abusive language against the Prime Minister in a video circulated on social media. She has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for statements allegedly intended to provoke a breach of peace. The FIR is part of a wider crackdown following the CJP-led protests, during which police in multiple states registered cases against several protesters over alleged violence and other offences.Meanwhile, the party is repeatedly demanding that criminal cases registered against students and participants in the agitation be withdrawn. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Delhi | Silver Rate in Delhi | Bank Holidays in Delhi | Public Holidays in Delhi | Delhi AQI | Weather in Delhi | Petrol Price in Delhi | Diesel Price in Delhi | CNG Price in Delhi | LPG Price in DelhiStay updated with the latest Delhi news.
