Jammu and Kashmir police are investigating the distribution of a school book that profiles separatist leaders. Authorities have suspended officials and blacklisted publishers while initiating a comprehensive review of all library materials to remove objectionable content.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s special wing, Counter Intelligence Jammu, on Monday (July 6, 2026) visited the office of Samagra Shiksha as part of an ongoing investigation to identify the people responsible for the book Great Personalities and Legends of J&K , which has profiled Kashmir separatist leaders such as Maqbool Bhat, Masarat Alam, Shabir Shah and Syed Ali Geelani.
