DMK councillor’s husband ‘attacks’ corporation staff in Salem
Police in Salem have registered a case against A. Ramalingam, the husband of a local DMK councillor, for allegedly assaulting a sanitary supervisor. The incident, which occurred during a dispute over garbage collection, was captured on CCTV and circulated on social media.
The City police booked the husband of a DMK councillor for allegedly attacking a sanitary supervisor on Sunday (July 19). The accused was identified as A. Ramalingam (72), a resident of Gugai in ward 48 and the husband of ward councillor Vijaya. On Sunday, a quarrel broke out between Ramalingam and sanitary supervisor M. Moorthy (53), a resident of Kitchipalayam, allegedly for not cleaning garbage in the ward. During the quarrel, Ramalingam allegedly attacked the supervisor, and the incident was caught on the CCTV camera in the locality; it went viral on social media. Following the incident, the Shevapet police registered a case against Ramalingam.
