Dr Umair Haroon named jury member for Asian Academy Creative Awards

KARACHI - Pakistani producer, director and media executive Dr Umair Haroon has been appointed as a jury member for the prestigious Asian Academy Creative Awards, organised by the Asian Academy of Creative Arts. According to a statement on Thursday, the appointment was confirmed in a letter signed by Michael McKay, President of the Asian Academy of Creative Arts, welcoming Dr Haroon to the jury panel and confirming his participation in this year's awards. Dr Haroon will serve as a juror during the National Round, scheduled from mid-August to September 7, and the International Round, to be held from late September to October 23. The Asian Academy Creative Awards are regarded among the leading honours in the Asia-Pacific region, recognising excellence in television, film, digital and emerging media across 17 countries. The statement said Dr Haroon is currently the only Pakistani member of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS) and is also serving on the jury for the 2026 International Emmy Awards. He is scheduled to attend the International Emmy Awards ceremony in New York in November. With academic backgrounds in medicine and forensic science, Dr Haroon has produced and directed more than 200 media projects. He is credited with pioneering Pakistan's first television series based on forensic sci-ence.
