Ederson to Man United transfer truth: £35m fee, medical plans, World Cup delay

Manchester United is set to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson for £35 million, despite rumors that the deal had collapsed. The delay in the official announcement is due to the player's international commitments with the Brazil national team during the World Cup.
United's first signing of the summer transfer window is expected to be Atalanta midfielder Ederson. While no official announcement has been made, United have agreed a £35m move for the midfielder with a further £3.8m in add-ons. The midfielder has agreed a four-year deal with the Reds to leave little doubt that this move will happen. However, a lack of an official announcement led to claims in Brazil that the deal for Ederson had collapsed and he would no longer be moving to Old Trafford. This is not the case. An official announcement has not been made because the player received a late call-up to the Brazil national team following an injury to fellow midfielder Wesley. As such, Ederson has not been available to complete his medical for United due to his commitments with Carlo Ancelotti's team. Following Brazil's 2-1 defeat to Norway in the World Cup round of 16 on Sunday, the opportunity is there for Ederson to complete his medical. But Ederson will take a short break and it is unknown when his medical will take place. There was an expectation that Ederson would be announced as a United player in early July before he was called up to the World Cup. Therefore, there is no concern this deal will fall through.
