Emmerdale’s Danny Miller reveals Strictly hopes as co-star is announced for series

Emmerdale's Danny Miller gave an interesting answer when asked about a potential Strictly Come Dancing appearance. The BBC show has been dropping announcements for celebrity contestants left, right and centre, including Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb, who was announced as the twelfth contestant today (6 August).Miller, who stars as Aaron Dingle in the soap, isn't unfamiliar with taking part in competitions as he made an appearance on The Celebrity Apprentice this year. And when chatting to Hollyoaks' Brooke Vincent and Luke Hamnett on the Live, Laugh, Luke Podcast, he was asked about his experience being on a show for the BBC.Related: Best streaming servicesDanny said that there were extremely limited options for ITV stars in terms of appearing on other shows, but when he asked if he could do The Celebrity Apprentice, they "gave [him] three weeks off to do it". When asked by Luke if a commitment to another show would impact his Emmerdale role, he responded: "I’m under contract so it’s irrelevant. It’s like a [Manchester] United player playing for Man City. It just wouldn’t ever happen really."Luke then asked if he'd ever do Strictly, and Danny didn't give an official answer, saying: "I believe they are talking about the possibilities of that."However, Vincent was quick to quash his Strictly ambitions, as she said: "You can’t dance," to which Danny responded: "Correct."Related: Emmerdale's Dr Todd stages frightening returnDanny had previously spoken about the "guilt" he'd felt taking time off Emmerdale for his Celebrity Apprentice, as well as not being able to speak to his family during filming, adding: "It genuinely is really quite painful."As for how Robb's Strictly appearance could impact his role as Mackenzie Boyd on the soap, particularly during some big storylines, there's been nothing to suggest that it would have a big impact. In a video on Strictly's official Instagram account, Robb seemingly implied that he'd be balancing both jobs, as he said: "For the next couple of months, alongside strutting my stuff on the Emmerdale fields, I’m going to be strutting my stuff on the dancefloor.
