Mr. Rao, who is the district in-charge minister, was speaking at a review meeting on the possible impact of El Nino at the Integrated District Offices Complex in Sircilla of Rajanna Sircilla district on Thursday. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar was present. The minister asked officials to create awareness among farmers about alternative crops that require less water and ensure implementation of measures outlined in the district-specific contingency plan. He also directed Mission Bhagiratha officials prepare an action plan for judicious utilisation of the available water in reservoirs to meet drinking water needs until July next year.
