Farmers move Karnataka High Court against acquisition of land for Bidadi township
Farmers have filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court challenging the state government's acquisition of agricultural land for the Bidadi Integrated Township Project. The court has ordered the government not to dispossess the petitioners until formal awards are passed under the 2013 land acquisition law.
The stage has been set for a battle between the farmers and the State government over the contentious Bidadi Integrated Township Project, with 14 small farmers knocking on the doors of the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday (August 4), challenging the legality of acquisition of their agricultural lands, situated at Vaderahalli village.
