'Fed up hogaya tha': Raja Chaudhary on choosing Rs 93 lakh flat over daughter
Actor Raja Chaudhary addressed controversy regarding his divorce settlement with Shweta Tiwari, specifically his decision to accept a flat instead of custody of his daughter. He cited personal financial desperation and a breakdown in communication as reasons for his choices.
Shweta Tiwari's ex-husband Raja Chaudhary, who recently made shocking allegations against the actress, broke his silence regarding accepting a Rs 93 lakh flat over his daughter Palak Tiwari. For the uninitiated, during the divorce settlement, Shweta transferred a one-bedroom flat worth nearly Rs 93 lakh to Raja Chaudhary. In return, Raja signed the divorce papers and agreed not to ask for the custody of their daughter, Palak Tiwari. In an old interview with Hindustan Times, the Kasautii Zindagii Kay actress had revealed that when the legal team offered a joint ownership of the property between Raja Chaudhary and Palak Tiwari, Raja refused it. Instead, he asked for a sole ownership. His decision left Shweta stunned. In the interview, she said, “I was shocked when Raja said, ‘I will sacrifice my daughter for property. Give me the flat, and I will give you a divorce."Now, in his latest interview with Siddharth Kannan, Raja narrated his side of the story, "2007 main hum separate ho gaye… family court main case chala gaya. 2007 se 2012 tak mujhe nahi lagta ki voh 10 baar bhi court aayi hogi, jabki main har date par vahan gaya." He also claimed as per the court's order, he was allowed to meet his daughter Palak at a fixed meeting place, but Shweta never brought her there. He also stated that during this time, he got involved in few others cases which made him impossible to find a place to stay. He shared, “Ek aisi deadline aa gayi ki ab main fed up ho gaya. Mujhe nahi chahiye kuch bhi. Ghar koi rent par bhi dene ko taiyaar nahi tha." Raja also stated that the 1BHK flat was bought by his father at the time of his wedding with Shweta.Raja shared that the flat was initially bought for Rs 9 lakh. According to him, his father paid the down payment, while he and Shweta together took care of the EMI payments. He added, "Maine kaha yeh wala flat tu dede aur tu rakh bhaiya apna samrajya, apne bacche, jo bhi tujhe chahiye. Meri life se tum… mujhe shanti do yaar."Raja blames Shweta of twisting narrative in her favourHe also claimed that initially Shweta agreed to Raja's condition but later twisted the narrative against him, he said, “Arre kahan sacrifice tak ki baat pohoch gayi yaar? Agar koi aadmi apne rehne ke liye aashray dhoond raha hai, ek jagah usse chahiye peacefully rehne ke liye, toh usme kahan se usne kya sacrifice kar diya? Tum yeh do cheezon merge bhi kaise kar sakte ho ki bacchha le ya daulat le?"Raja said Shweta's allegation would have made sense only if he had taken all their jointly owned property. Instead, he claimed that he gave up his share in the properties they had bought together, despite having invested his own money in them.
