Final restoration phase begins at Thousand Pillar temple in Telangana’s Hanumakonda
The Archaeological Survey of India has begun the final phase of restoration at the 12th-century Thousand Pillar Temple in Hanumakonda, Telangana. The project focuses on reconstructing the southern portico, repairing stone sculptures, and landscaping the complex using traditional Kakatiya techniques.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Hyderabad Circle, on Friday (July 31, 2026) commenced another phase of c onservation works at the Kakatiya-era Thousand Pillar Temple in Hanumkonda , taking up restoration of the remaining southern portico, repair of damaged stone sculptures and landscaping of the temple complex at an estimated cost of ₹1 crore.
