SHILLONG, July 23: Supercare Hospital will launch a four-day “World Hepatitis Awareness & Liver Health Initiative” from July 24 to 28, aimed at promoting liver health and increasing access to preventive care. The campaign, themed “Hepatitis: Let’s break it down,” is designed to educate the public on viral hepatitis, fatty liver, alcohol-related liver disease, and liver cancer. It emphasises the importance of early screening, vaccination, and medical intervention. The initiative begins on July 24 with public awareness sessions on disease transmission and prevention. On July 25, the focus will shift to early detection through laboratory tests and imaging, followed by community education sessions led by healthcare professionals on July 27. The campaign concludes on July 28 with a free health camp marking World Hepatitis Day. The public can access specialist consultations, Hepatitis B and C screenings, Hepatitis B vaccinations, and basic health checks, including blood sugar and blood pressure monitoring. Diet and nutrition counseling will also be available.
