Gaza death toll hits 73,098 as Israeli attacks continue

Gaza's Health Ministry announced on Monday that five more Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since October 2023 to 73,098 as the enclave's humanitarian crisis deepens amid a fragile ceasefire.In its daily statistical report, the ministry said hospitals across Gaza received five bodies over the past day, including three newly killed victims and two recovered from the rubble. Seven additional people were injured during the same period, pushing the total number of injuries to 173,571 since the war began.Despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 10, 2025, Israeli forces have continued their attacks across the territory. The ministry reported that 1,072 Palestinians have been killed and 3,463 others injured during the truce period alone. Many victims remain trapped beneath collapsed buildings and on roads where ambulance and civil defense crews have been unable to reach them, the ministry added.Israel has destroyed approximately 90 percent of Gaza's infrastructure during its military campaign, with the United Nations estimating reconstruction costs at roughly $70 billion. Israeli authorities continue to block the entry of agreed quantities of food, medicine, medical supplies and shelter materials into the territory, where approximately 2.4 million Palestinians — including 1.5 million displaced people — are living in catastrophic conditions.
