GMPL project: MP seeks regular, permanent jobs for displaced families
Capt. Brijesh Chowta, MP for Dakshina Kannada, has urged Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to intervene after GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited (GMPL) offered contract-based roles instead of the permanent employment promised to 115 project-displaced families. The families, who surrendered their land for the plant in 2012, argue that the current five-year contract offers violate the original rehabilitation obligations inherited by GMPL.
