Govt finalising policy to supply gas to villages near fields
The Pakistani government is finalizing policy guidelines to provide natural gas to villages located within five kilometers of gas-producing fields. A parliamentary sub-committee has prioritized the gasification of 42 villages near the Badar Gas Field, with initial funding already allocated.
ISLAMABAD - A parliamentary panel was told by the federal government that policy guidelines for gasifying villages near gas-producing fields (within 5km) are being finalised. The Sub-Committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum, convened by Senator Jam Saifullah Khan, met to review the implementation of the Prime Minister's directive dated 15th September, 2003 and the directions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the provision of natural gas to villages located within a five-kilometre radius of gas-producing fields.
