HC orders comprehensive inquiry into appointments under priority category
The Madras High Court has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the recruitment of temporary workers in Tirunelveli district following allegations of fake disability certificates used between 2005 and 2015. The court directed the government to review employment exchange procedures to prevent future irregularities.
Taking a serious view of the fact that several persons had obtained appointments on a temporary basis to the posts of sanitary workers, overhead tank operators, overhead tank watchmen, electricians and junior assistants in town panchayats and municipalities in Tirunelveli district, using fake disability certificates from 2005 to 2015, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court ordered a comprehensive inquiry.
