Heavy rain lashes Delhi, IMD issues orange alert as waterlogging slows traffic
The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Delhi due to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The weather has caused waterlogging and traffic delays, though it has provided relief from previous sultry conditions.
NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued an orange alert for Delhi, forecasting moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms through the day after heavy showers drenched several parts of the national capital in the morning.The rain brought much-needed relief from the sultry weather, with dense clouds covering the city and temperatures dipping below normal.Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 26.6 degrees Celsius, which was 1.3 notches below the seasonal average, according to the IMD. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 32 degrees Celsius.Meanwhile, the city's air quality remained in the "satisfactory" category.
