Authorities have issued a high wave alert for the Alappad-Edava coastline in Kerala due to expected swell surges. Residents and fishers are advised to avoid the sea and follow safety protocols until the alert is lifted.
The National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has issued a swell surge (Kallakkadal) alert for the coastal belt stretching from Alappad to Edava. High waves reaching heights of up to 1.6 meters, alongside potential coastal erosion and sea incursions, are expected along the coastline until 11.30 p.m. on August 6. Following the warning, fishers and coastal residents have been directed to avoid venturing into the sea and to strictly follow safety protocols.
