AI Summary

Spotify has updated its platform to allow users to pin up to 20 items, including playlists, albums, and podcasts, to the top of their library. This change addresses long-standing user feedback and provides more flexibility than the previous four-item limit.

Spotify has announced one of its most requested updates, allowing users to pin up to 20 favourite items at the top of their music library instead of the previous limit of just four. The feature, unveiled on Wednesday, is designed to make it easier for listeners to quickly access the playlists, albums, artists, podcasts and audiobooks they use most without having to scroll through an increasingly crowded library. Before this update, the four-item limit had been in place for about five years and was one of the platform's most common user complaints. Now, the company has increased that limit to 20, giving listeners far more flexibility to keep their favourite content within easy reach. The music streaming giant shared the announcement through its official X account, calling it one of the platform's "most requested" improvements after years of feedback from users. Why Spotify is making the change Spotify's "Your Library" has evolved into much more than a place to save music. Many users now use it to organise playlists, podcasts, audiobooks and favourite creators, making the previous four-item limit too restrictive. The update also gives Spotify an advantage over some rivals. For example, Apple Music currently allows users to pin up to six items in their library. What can users pin? Once the update reaches their account, Spotify users can pin: Playlists Albums Artists Podcasts Audiobooks Creators These pinned items remain at the top of the Your Library tab for quicker access. How to access the feature Users do not need to download a separate app. To use the feature: Update Spotify to the latest version through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Open Your Library. Find the playlist, album, artist, podcast or audiobook you want to pin. Long-press the item or tap the three-dot menu. Select Pin to Your Library. If the update has reached your account, you will be able to pin up to 20 items instead of four. Spotify says the feature is rolling out globally to both Free and Premium users. The rollout has already begun, and the company expects it to reach users worldwide over the next month. That means some people, including users in Kenya, may see the feature immediately after updating the app, while others will receive it gradually as Spotify expands availability. The update is a relatively small change, but one that could make a big difference for heavy Spotify users.
