India beat England by six wickets to register a win in the first of the three-match ODI series at Edgbaston, in Birmingham, on Tuesday. India did look in a bit of trouble when KL Rahul fell, but Axar Patel and Washington Sundar put on a timely partnership to take India home. India vs England 1st ODI live score: Watch here The foundation of the chase, though, was laid by Shubman Gill, who smashed a sparkling 80 runs from 75 deliveries before retiring himself with cramps. Shreyas Iyer, who dovetailed with Gill nicely too, was run out. However, England's bowlers could not capitalise on the errors India made as the visitors cruised in the end. Earlier, with the ball, India was quite clinical with Axar Patel picking four wickets. The damage, though, was done in the overs from 10-20 when Gurnoor Brar and Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets each in single overs, and Jasprit Bumrah picked up the wicket of Harry Brook.
