J&K: Pika gun ammo seized from hideout in Poonch; combing ops continues in Rajouri

JAMMU: Security forces recovered 215 rounds of Pika gun ammunition from a terrorist hideout in the border district of Poonch, J&K, late Tuesday. An SOG team made the recovery during a routine patrol in Sawajian Gagranga village in Mandi tehsil, officials said. Police launched an investigation.On Wednesday, a cordon-and-search operation launched in Thanamandi in neighbouring Rajouri district to trace two terror suspects allegedly captured on CCTV cameras entered its second day. Troops continued combing Bhanghai Top, Karyote and Kopra Top areas and the adjoining forested villages.The footage showed the terror suspects crossing a road late Sunday. The clip went viral on social media Monday night, prompting a team of personnel from the Army, J&K Police's SOG and CRPF to launch a joint cordon-and-search operation early Tuesday.In a related action, Operation Sheruwali — a joint combing operation underway since May 23 in the forested Dorimal-Gambhir-Mughlan belt in Rajouri's Manjakote sector for a group of two to three elusive ultras — entered its 54th day on Wednesday.Get the latest India news and live updates.
