Letters to The Editor — August 8, 2026

The repeated disruptions in Parliament are disappointing as they prevent meaningful discussions on issues that directly affect citizens. Parliament is meant to be a forum where different views are expressed through debate, not a place where proceedings come to a standstill. The Opposition has an important responsibility to question the government, while the government must be willing to address concerns and engage in constructive dialogue. When both sides remain unwilling to cooperate, public confidence in democratic institutions suffers. People expect their elected representatives to focus on governance rather than political confrontation. With several important national issues demanding attention, Parliament must function effectively and uphold the spirit of democracy. Respectful debate, accountability, and cooperation are essential for the institution to truly serve the people.
