Liverpool enters race for another PSG starlet who's 'keen' on Anfield move

In addition to eyeing a deal for Bradley Barcola, Liverpool is also interested in his teammate, Ibrahim Mbaye — and the PSG player is "keen" on a move to Anfield in the post-Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot era, according to RMC Sport. The Reds have contacted the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, while a messy Paris exit looks increasingly likely. The 18-year-old also has interest from Bundesliga clubs, including RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen, but is prioritizing a move to Liverpool after a deal with Leipzig collapsed. Meanwhile, the Reds continue to shake up the market as they hunt for attacking gems under new head coach Andoni Iraola. That Leipzig deal was reportedly close before falling apart after Leipzig winger Yan Diomande's PSG deal fell through. Diomande has since been linked to a transfer to Real Madrid. Mbaye played 24 Ligue 1 matches last season, logging 1,006 minutes with three goals and two assists, plus four Champions League appearances. Across PSG and Senegal duty from July 2025 through June 2026, he scored seven goals and made five assists in 1,613 minutes. He also played at the World Cup, scoring against France before starting against Iraq. Mbaye has reportedly faced disciplinary and contractual tension in Paris as his relationship with management deteriorated amid concerns about his inner circle. PSG staff also had concerns about punctuality, fitness, and weight issues linked to an unsuitable diet. Those problems reportedly contributed to his reduced playing time. PSG leadership, including Luis Campos, grew frustrated by media leaks allegedly from Mbaye's camp, which claimed he wanted to leave the club. Mbaye reportedly sparked controversy during the Africa Cup of Nations when he posted on Snapchat claiming Senegal were being "robbed" in the final against Morocco, despite his own mother being Moroccan. The PSG talent is said to have changed agents three times in less than a year, and reports suggest that a long list of demands must be met before he chooses his next club. The rumored demands include commission shares, image rights, travel expenses, a family box at Parc des Princes, and funding for a foundation, hospital, school, and Senegal academy. Liverpool's interest remains as the club looks to replace a legend in Mohamed Salah.
