The Tiruvallur district administration has announced a local holiday on August 6, Thursday, on the occasion of the Aadi Krithigai festival at the Sri Subramanyaswamy Temple in Tiruttani. Collector S. Kavitha said the holiday would not fall under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and that the treasury and sub-treasury offices would function on that day. Schools and other educational institutions will have a holiday on that day. August 8, Saturday, will be a compensatory working day, said a press release.
