Lower Bhavani farmers resume protest seeking G.O. for release of water

Farmers in the Erode, Karur, and Tiruppur districts have resumed protests demanding the release of water from the Lower Bhavani Project canal to save their crops. Despite previous assurances from district officials, farmers claim the government has failed to issue the necessary order to address the moisture stress affecting their fields.
Around 50 farmers dependent on the Lower Bhavani Project (LBP) canal resumed their protest in front of the office of the District Revenue Officer (DRO) here on Tuesday (August 11, 2026), demanding the immediate issuance of a government order (G.O.) for the release of water into the canal.
