Researchers have discovered that magnetic surfaces may have played a role in the origin of life by selectively attracting specific chiral molecules. This study offers a potential explanation for why biological molecules exhibit a consistent left- or right-handed bias.
A study offering new clues to the origin of life on Earth began at a family dinner. "We try to avoid talking about science during Friday night meals, but it rarely works," recalls Prof. Michal Sharon of the Weizmann Institute of Science.
