Man falls into waterlogged Noida drain, dies

NOIDA: A 28-year-old man died after allegedly falling into a roadside drain submerged under rainwater while heading to work in Noida's Sector 58 on Thursday morning, police said.The incident comes amid growing concerns over civic safety as heavy rainfall continues to cause widespread waterlogging across Gautam Buddh Nagar district.The deceased, identified as Aryan, was a resident of Choda village in Sector 22.According to police, the incident occurred around 9 am when Aryan was walking towards a factory in Sector 58 amid waterlogging caused by incessant rain.Preliminary investigations suggest that he was crossing over concrete slabs placed atop a roadside drain because the road was inundated.One of the slabs was allegedly unstable, causing him to lose balance and fall into the drain.Police said Aryan's friend, Shivam, along with others present at the spot, pulled him out in an unconscious state.They attempted to revive him by administering CPR before rushing him to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Legal proceedings have been initiated and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.The death comes amid a spate of rain-related mishaps in Gautam Buddh Nagar, where heavy showers have triggered waterlogging and traffic snarls in several parts of Noida and Greater Noida.On Friday, water accumulated inside a private compound under construction in Sector 73, damaging a drain and causing a wall to collapse.Although no injuries were reported, residents claimed the incident forced the closure of an adjoining service road.Earlier this week, a 10-year-old boy fell into an open manhole in Greater Noida's Chi-Phi area while walking with his mother.While bystanders managed to rescue the woman, the child was swept into the drain, raising fresh questions over civic infrastructure and monsoon preparedness.(With PTI inputs)You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Noida | Silver Rate in Noida | Bank Holidays in Noida | Public Holidays in Noida | Noida AQI | Weather in Noida | Petrol Price in Noida | Diesel Price in Noida | CNG Price in Noida | LPG Price in NoidaStay updated with the latest Noida news.
