Man United handed double blow involving Marcus Rashford as '£17m offer made'

Both Manchester United and Marcus Rashford have been dealt a transfer blow after Barcelona made a move for Borussia Dortmund ace Karim Adeyemi. Rated at £35m, the 24-year-old right winger is close to a move to Barca, according to ESPN , and an offer for the German international has been made. The Red Devils were keen on Adeyemi, before Barca made their move as they look to add to the signing of England star Anthony Gordon. Gordon on one wing and Adeyemi on the other could prove to be a force next season in the Champions League , but it is also a major blow to England star Rashford, as he still had his heart set on making the move to the Spotify Nou Camp. Adeyemi has two years left on his contract, and his value will plummet at Dortmund if he doesn't sign a new contract. ESPN claim that Barça have already reached a loose agreement with the player over personal terms, but remain in negotiations with Dortmund after making a £17m offer, with the deal "not imminent" and "nothing has been signed." Rashford is facing an uncertain future despite having two years left on his current deal, with Newcastle priced out of a move for the big earner earlier this summer. Although Rashford made it clear he would wait until after the World Cup to make his decision, despite a lack of bids so far. Rashford said last week: "I was very clear. I wanted any move done before the World Cup. If it’s not, I wanted it to wait until after. I want to be fully present in the moment. "We’re fighting for something special." "I don’t have the energy to dedicate to [thinking about club uncertainty]." Man United star Harry Maguire says that Rashford would still be welcomed back with open arms at Old Trafford next season, although the club would prefer to sell him permanently.
