Manchester United close to signing exciting midfielder from Man City

Manchester United are close to completing the signing of David Eze from Manchester City. Eze, 16, is set to leave City this summer, and United are hopeful of winning the race to sign him. It's understood that a pre-professional contract (outlining that he will sign with pro teams when he turns 17) will be included. The young midfielder has attracted interest from European clubs. Eze has a European passport because he was born in Dublin, which gives him options to move abroad. However, United are close to finalising a deal to wrap up his signature. Eze is well regarded within academy circles , and he will join up with United's Under-18s if his transfer is rubber-stamped. The talented prospect has represented England at Under-16 and Under-17 level. United's academy is essentially limited to a United Kingdom-based recruitment search due to Brexit rules, which is why the club have been proactive in adding players from neighbouring sides over the last few years. Darren Fletcher remains in charge of the U18s after guiding them to the FA Youth Cup final last season.
