Mikel Arteta sells first member of title-winning squad in Arsenal summer rebuild

Arsenal has confirmed the transfer of Belgian international Leandro Trossard to Turkish club Besiktas for a total fee of £17 million. The move is part of a broader squad rebuild as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen the team's forward line.
Leandro Trossard will leave Arsenal to join Besiktas after spending more than three years with the North London side, the club have confirmed. It's understood that the Turkish giants will pay the Premier League champions €18million plus €2m in add-ons (£17million total) to secure the services of the Belgium international. Arsenal released a statement on Tuesday, which read: "We have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard. He made more than 100 league appearances and helped them win their first Premier League title crown in 22 years last season. He'll be fondly remembered by Gunners fans for scoring the only goal in the crucial 1-0 win over West Ham in May, a result that proved decisive in their title triumph. Trossard made 174 appearances in total, scoring 36 goals. Trossard had been featuring at this summer's World Cup where he was a key part of the Belgium squad that reached the quarter-finals before their elimination at the hands of one of the Arsenal man's club teammates Mikel Merino. Trossard has been known for scoring plenty of clutch goals in big moments. Merino will be looked upon next season to take on such a void left, in this sense, by Trossard. football.london understands Arsenal wish to strengthen their forward line, particularly on the left-hand side.
