A murder investigation has been launched by detectives after a man who was attacked in Oldham a month ago tragically died. Police and paramedics responded to the 'shocking' stabbing on June 19 in Failsworth. A large emergency response raced to the scene on Hale Lane at around 9.50pm. A major appeal for CCTV and other footage from the area has been shared with witnesses also urged to come forward. Four men and one woman aged between 17 and 45 years, who were all previously arrested on grievous bodily harm and assault offences, have been released on bail. Detective Chief Inspector Anna Barker, the Senior Investigating Officer from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This was a shocking attack, which has now evolved into a murder investigation following the death of Steven last week. "His family are being supported by specialist officers at this time, and we are keeping them updated as our work continues at pace. “While we have made several arrests, we are still appealing for information and would urge anyone who witnessed anything of significance, or has any information relating to this incident, to please contact us. Even the smallest of detail may assist our enquiries.” Police said officers are keen to obtain any CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the area.
