NCB seizes 5kg heroin smuggled from Pakistan in Poonch, 1 held
The Narcotics Control Bureau seized 5kg of high-grade heroin in the Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir, allegedly smuggled from Pakistan. One person was arrested, and authorities are investigating the cross-border network involved.
JAMMU: Narcotics control bureau (NCB) seized 5 kg of high-grade heroin, suspected to have been smuggled from Pakistan, and arrested an alleged smuggler during a raid in a village along LoC in Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch district on Saturday.“Around 9 am, the contraband, packed in five packets, was recovered from a person in Kosalyain village under Poonch police station area in Haveli tehsil. It was meant to be transported out of the UT through an organised cross-border narcotics network,” an official said.Investigators are trying to identify the intended recipients of the consignment, the cross-border handlers involved, and the local network.It is one of the largest drug seizures in the border district in recent years.On Feb 14, BSF and police foiled a major cross-border drug smuggling attempt along international border and seized 6.5 kg of heroin in Nai Basti Karotana village in Baspur area of R S Pura sector.Get the latest India News and Live updates.
