Newcastle tell Bruno Guimaraes he must show up on Friday while Arsenal know what's required

Newcastle United have told Bruno Guimaraes he must report to first-team training on Friday ahead of the Magpies' warm-weather training camp in La Manga. All eyes are on the Brazilian international, who has been linked with a summer transfer to Arsenal on the back of a disappointing season for the Magpies. It's understood Guimaraes was a vocal critic of Alexander Isak's behaviour in forcing a move from Newcastle to Liverpool last summer, and it would come as a surprise if the Brazilian followed a similar path in order to join Arsenal this summer. Isak reportedly refused to train or play for Newcastle during their pre-season preparations, leaving many senior figures at the club unhappy with his conduct. It was a move that acted as the foundation for a disappointing campaign for the Magpies with Eddie Howe's side missing out on European football, and as a result, Guimaraes has told the club he'd like to join the Gunners this summer. Arsenal have been told they must stump up a transfer fee in the region of £80million for the Magpies captain, or there'll be no movement. Despite reports claiming the Gunners had made a £70million approach, there have been no club-to-club talks between the two parties as things stand. football.london understands that intermediaries - namely super agent Kia Joorabchian - have been heavily involved in the potential deal. Arsenal and Newcastle have not yet been able to reach an agreement in terms of valuation, with the 28-year-old still having two years remaining on his current contract, and the Magpies have the option of another year. Howe was also unable to provide guarantees that Guimaraes would be a Newcastle player come the end of the transfer window. Speaking after their 1-1 draw with Gateshead in pre-season, Howe said: ""I have spoken to him normally as I would do. "Bruno is a fantastic person and we had some really good conversations before and during the World Cup and after the World Cup. "What we speak about has to remain private. He is a great player and a great person." Howe added: "Look I don't know what is going to happen with Bruno's future, that is for other people to speculate about. But also conversations that I'm not part of. "I don't think it's fair to compare situations and what happened previously," Howe said. "I think you've got to look at it in its own right. Bruno is the captain of our football club. "He's been an unbelievable player and person all through the time that we've worked together. I speak on behalf of everyone at the football club. "We absolutely love him and, of course, everyone would want him to stay."
