Over ₹1,340 crore to overhaul Hyderabad’s street illumination

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has initiated a massive ₹1,340 crore project to replace and maintain LED streetlights across the city over the next decade. The plan includes installing over 7.6 lakh new fixtures and implementing a centralized real-time monitoring system to improve public safety and energy efficiency.
More than a year after the streetlight contact ended with the Energy Efficiency Services Limited, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has taken the first decisive step towards resolving the longstanding issue with the street illumination, by inviting bids for selection of an agency for comprehensive operation and maintenance of LED streetlights in the city for the coming 10 years.
