Panel recommends annual screening, additional test for chronic kidney disease
A Parliamentary Standing Committee in India has recommended that all serum creatinine tests automatically include an eGFR report to improve early detection of chronic kidney disease. The panel also called for a national strategy focused on annual screening for high-risk individuals.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare has recommended that every serum creatinine test (direct measurement of waste product in blood) in the country should automatically include a glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) report (estimates normal kidney function), at no additional cost to the patient, to improve the early detection of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
