Parliament monsoon session highlights: The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha was adjouned till August 3 amid Opposition ruckus. This blog has ended.The Opposition MPs enacted a ‘chanda chori’ skit in the parliament complex in protest against the Ram Temple donation row on Friday. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi were part of the protest against the theft of donations, as well as police crackdown against student agitators during their July 20 march to Parliament.The INDIA bloc MPs demanded home minister Amit Shah's resignation and questioned his absence from House proceedings.Protesting in front of Makar Dwar of Parliament, the lawmakers raised such slogans as 'Amit Shah istifa do', 'Amit Shah sadan mein aao' and 'chadhawa chor, gaddi chorh'.The MPs kept donation boxes in front of the Makar Dwar steps and Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, known as Pappu Yadav, dressed in saffron, sat with the boxes.As part of a skit, the MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, put money inside the boxes, as Yadav slipped money into his pockets to symbolise the alleged theft at the Ram Temple.Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party's Awadhesh Prasad and Dharmendra Yadav, and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's Mahua Maji, were among the others who participated in the protest, standing behind a big banner that read: 'Amit Shah Sadan Se Gayab Kyun?'Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 pm minutes after the House proceedings began on Friday. The adjournment happened after the Opposition ruckus over pellet guns and AK-47 use against NEET protesters. Opposition leaders in the Rajya Sabha also created ruckus, raising slogans of ‘paper leak ki sarkar’.Parliament updates of the day:1. Congress moves privilege motion against MoS Jitendra Singh - Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal submitted a privilege motion in the Lok Sabha against Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh, accusing him of misleading Parliament by stating that "no firing took place" during the July 20 'Sansad Chalo' student protest. The Congress argued that pellet firing did occur and sought to have the matter referred to the Committee of Privileges.2. Congress steps up attack over student protest crackdown - Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi renewed their criticism of the Centre over the alleged police action against student protesters. They accused the government of filing FIRs against students despite earlier assurances that no action would be taken after the protest was withdrawn. Rahul Gandhi reiterated his demand for a Supreme Court-monitored probe.3. BJP targets Jharkhand government over alleged exam irregularities - BJP MPs from Jharkhand demanded a CBI probe into alleged paper leaks and recruitment examination irregularities in the state. Union Minister Annpurna Devi and BJP MPs Sanjay Seth, Nishikant Dubey and Aditya Sahu accused the JMM-led government of compromising students' futures and alleged a cover-up through a CID inquiry.4. BJP MPs protest in Parliament premises - BJP MPs from Jharkhand staged a demonstration near the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament complex, demanding a CBI investigation into the alleged Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) paper leak and recruitment scam.5. JPC on constitutional amendment gets more time - The Lok Sabha approved an extension for the Joint Parliamentary Committee examining the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025. The committee, chaired by BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi, is reviewing a proposal to remove the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and ministers from office if they remain jailed for 30 consecutive days on serious charges. It will now submit its report during the Winter Session.6. Opposition stages Ram Temple donation scam skit - Congress, Samajwadi Party and other Opposition MPs held a street-play-style protest near the Makar Dwar in Parliament, with Rahul Gandhi joining Pappu Yadav in a symbolic skit alleging embezzlement of Ram Temple donations. "The minister is gone, but you are still not making any effort to bring reforms," Kharge said.Academics demand Priyanka Gandhi's apologyMeanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi's ‘gaumutra expert’ remark against IIT Madras Director Professor V Kamakoti has kicked up a storm and now, vice-chancellors, former vice-chancellors and senior academicians from universities across the country have expressed strong displeasure over it. Many of them are for an apology and urging that such comments not be repeated.The reactions came after an open letter signed by Vice-Chancellors, former Vice-Chancellors and academicians accused Priyanka Gandhi of undermining the dignity of the academic community by allegedly referring to Professor Kamakoti as a "gaumutra expert" during a discussion in the Lok Sabha.
