Potential protective effects of metformin on remote organ injury in the liver, kidney, and lung following experimental lower-extremity ischemia–reperfusion in non-diabetic rats

A study on Wistar albino rats indicates that metformin may help reduce oxidative stress and organ damage following lower-extremity ischemia-reperfusion injury. The findings suggest that the drug provides protective effects for the liver, kidney, and lung in non-diabetic subjects.
