Presidential Media Team inspects Fed. Govt , Kogi projects

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Presidential Media Team continued their nationwide assessment tour yesterday, inspecting strategic federal and state-backed projects across the state. The inspected projects covered roads, renewable energy, healthcare and education, all aimed at improving connectivity, expanding access to public services, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth. At sections of the Abuja-Lokoja-Okene-Auchi highway and the Lokoja-Benin highway, Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Abdulsalami Ozigi, said construction accelerated after the visit of the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, following concerns raised by the state government over the condition of the roads. Ozigi said the highways had deteriorated after years of neglect before the current intervention. At Obajana Junction, also known as Kaba Junction, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Community Engagement, Abdullahi Yakasai, described the Lokoja-Benin highway as one of Nigeria’s busiest transport corridors. The team also inspected the 20-kilometre Okene Bypass, another concrete pavement project linking Auchi and Benin in Edo State. At the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, the management told the team that the institution has expanded from about 240 students at inception in 2020 to more than 6,000 within five years. At the university’s Barefoot College of Renewable Energy, being established by the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Senior Special Assistant to the President, O’tega Ogra, said the facility would equip young Nigerians with practical skills in renewable energy technologies and support the country’s energy transition.
