PUCL demands action against Bihar police officers for illegal detention of its members

The People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) has accused Bihar police of illegally detaining and harassing two of its members who were advocating for students arrested during a protest. The organization claims the police violated due process by denying the detainees access to FIRs and legal representation.
The People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL), Bihar Unit, on Friday (July 31, 2026), criticised Bihar police, in particular the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gandhi Maidan Police Station, Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, for illegal detention, handcuffing and harassing the PUCL members for raising voice against denial of due process to detained students.
